Scenario 2
You have been allocated the care of Lucy Fowler, a four year old girl who was admitted via the Emergency Department. Lucy has fractured her humorous while riding her bike and she is on the operating theatre list for later in the evening.
At handover report you were advised that Lucy’s parents are ‘overprotective and their stories about how the accident happened differed significantly’.
When you enter Lucy’s ward for the first time her parents complain to you about the lack of care they received in the Emergency Department and how the staff treated them with suspicion. They tell you they intend to lodge a formal complaint.
