Disaster Preparation
Project description
Nurses need to be professionally and personally prepared to respond to disasters. Every nurse should have a plan for themselves and their family when a disaster occurs. If you do not have a plan, now is the time to make one. Read the article on the ANA issue brief entitled Who will be there?
Disaster Preparation
Ethics, the law, and a nurse’s duty to respond in a disaster.
Disaster preparation
Write a 2-3 page paper that addresses all of the following issues. You will be graded using the grading rubric for written assignments.
Briefly describe what preparations you have made or will plan to make at home. Think about physical preparations, communication and family
Briefly describe your role in the disaster response plan if a disaster occurs at your place of employment (or describe the role of an RN at your clinical site if you are not currently employed)
What do you foresee as being your biggest challenge to being able to volunteer if there was a community-wide disaster? What plans can you make in advance to improve the possibilities of being able to respond to a community-wide disaster?
