The aim of this assignment is for your group to analyse an international tourist destination, and prepare a proposal for the sustainable development. You are working for the National Tourism Organisation, and you have been asked to prepare a tourism report outlining key markets and destination issues. Then, you have to suggest ways in which the destination can develop tourism sustainably in the future. The destination should be one of the destinations on the list:

The report should cover the following sections:
• Destination Overview: brief information about the current tourism situation of the destination.
• Potential Visitor Markets: report the statistics of four emerging markets: India, China, Russia, and Brazil. Then identify one of the key emerging markets.
• Destination Issues: describe problems and weakness in the destination.
• Sustainable Opportunities for Destination: how develop tourism sustainably by focusing on the emerging markets (one or more than one)? [You should draw upon examples of other destinations to support your proposal]
The seminar / presentation should aim to:
• communicate and illustrate a range of current perspectives on the topic, where appropriate using appropriate examples;

• encourage the formation of logical and well founded opinions and perspectives amongst the readership;
• prioritise aspects of the topic and evaluate a selective amount of material which is pertinent to the topic;
• exhibit evidence of extensive research using a full, appropriate and contemporary range of sources and materials;
• provide a suitably provocative basis to initiate and stimulate a range of discussion / debate.
The presentations need to take into account the following guidelines:
1. Professional structure and organisation of the presentation;
2. Range, depth, age and appropriateness of materials accessed and selected;
3. An understanding of the topic and ability to create discussion / debate
4. Capacity to relate the subject to contemporary organisational / industrial situations
5. Other considerations include: creativity, enthusiasm, originality, etc.
When researching and writing the report you will need to decide what information is most important and relevant; this may differ depending on your destination. You will also need to summarise information (e.g. statistics), write in a clear and simple manner (e.g. use bullet points where appropriate) and write in your own writing (e.g. do not copy large amounts of text or paraphrase by changing a few words. Use a report format to write the report. Use a reference list and not a bibliography.
