Describe your favorite academic subject and explain how it has influenced you.
“Things to consider: Discuss how your interest in the subject developed and describe any experience you have had inside and outside the classroom — such as volunteer work, summer programs, participation in student organizations and/or activities — and what you have gained from your involvement.
Now i will provide some info about me, in case you think of an idea please share it with me. Do not limit the contents of the essay to the info i provide.
– Intended major: Chemical Engineering
– (This particular info is not important. It is up to you whether or not you want to include it) Most of my family members are engineers. The reason being is that the UAE is a petroleum country ( i am from the UAE). And the most rigorous and fruitful career in the UAE is that of an engineer (irrespective to the specialty field).
– I was always fascinated by Chemistry. When I was eight, my parent brought me an Ein-O-Science Egg Science Experimental game. ( You can make up some details on how i used the game) What i still remember vividly is that I used all the eggs in the house and my parents scolded me fr doing so. Couple of years later, they bought for me “Thames and Kosmos Chemistry Chem C500″ and I indulged making fizzy and foamy reactions and write messages with invisible ink.;learnt about reactions between solids, liquids, and gases; react acids with bases and watch as they are neutralized.
– I subscribed to CrazyRussianHacker on YouTube. Despite the name, he’s a great and ingenious individual that I aspire to be. He’s my inspiration and I admire his contribution to this field. He also fueled my passion for chemistry and showed my how great chemistry is.
– In grade 10 (2014), I participated in the Think Science Fair ( Held by UAE government). I, along with my colleagues made a couple of cool experiments for kids.
1- Color Changing Milk experiment
2- Burning Bubbles experiment ( it was fun to see the kids startled when they saw my hands burning. My hands were coated by bubbles so i was “unscathed”)
3- Smokey-bubbles experiment. We added a detergent to water. Dipped in some dry ice and BOOM… the power of chemistry. You see bubbles emerging. What is special is that when the bubbles pop, they produce smoke. It was cool.
Last but not least, this affinity to chemistry compelled or I would rather say propelled me to take AP courses in Chemistry. So far so good. In Pre-AP Chemistry I got an A. This passion and love made me choose Chemical engineering as my career.
I wrote it on my phone so I apologize for the typos.
