Stereotyping

This week we have two different topics to discuss separately. Please discuss each topic in a minimum of 1-2 paragraphs each. DO NOT INCLUDE TITLE PAGE, INTRODUCTION, OR CONCLUSION. THIS IS NOT A PAPER. Both topics must be discussed separately (DO NOT INTERTWINE THE TWO TOPIC WITHIN YOUR PARAGRAPHS. THEY MUST HAVE 1-2 PARAGRAPHS THAT ARE SEPARATE FROM THE OTHER TWO PARAGRAPHS). INCLUDE ANY AND ALL REFERENCES, ALONG WITH LINKS TO THOSE REFERENCES AND USE IN TEXT CITATIONS IN APA STYLE.

Stereotyping

TOPIC ONE: From the time we are infants and throughout our lifetime we receive messages (both positive and negative) about people, races, religions, groups, etc. How does media influence the stereotypes you have learned throughout your lifetime and your thoughts regarding certain groups of people? Using childhood, TV or movies to provide examples of how these stereotypes are perpetuated. How could these learned stereotypes interfere with your ability to provide victim advocacy? (DISCUSS THIS IN 1-2 PAPRAGRAPHS. INCLUDE REFERENCES, LINKS TO REFERENCES, AND IN TEXT CITATIONS)

TOPIC TWO: Explain at least two unique challenges in investigating and prosecuting a hate crime. Discuss how proving motive becomes a key challenge in the prosecution. As a victim advocate, how might you address these challenges with your victim? (DISCUSS THIS IN 1-2 PAPRAGRAPHS. INCLUDE REFERENCES, LINKS TO REFERENCES, AND IN TEXT CITATIONS).
