Introduction

Global warming is one of the hottest debates in current forums as man has become more aware on threats that he poses to the environment (Purvis, & Grainger, 2004). While the debate on the effect that man’s activities has on the environment has been raging on for years there is a general consensus that activities of man contribute considerably to the high levels of risk that the environment is in (Reibestein, 2007). Industries play a considerable role in the high levels of pollution that characterise most cities (New Zealand Seafood Industry Council, 2003), human activities also add up to the high levels of pollution and play a considerable role in increasing the levels of pollution. Though man appear to be hell-bent on destroying the environment (OECD, 2004), the reality that the environment is critical to the survival of man has not escaped some organisations that have taken initiative to develop and fund programmes that seek to ensure a safe environment by reducing the negative effects that their activities have on the environment and taking personal responsibility to ensure negative effects that others’ activity have on the environment are corrected (Pelesikoti, 2003). Coca Cola is one such organisation that has developed its operations in a manner that seek the generation of value in terms of environmental sustainability and ensuring the strain that the environment is placed on as a result of activities of man is addressed in good time.
