The assignment children and work should be written in the style of a policy report.

Review recent* policy debates relating to your chosen topic, and how these have been critically discussed by Geographers of Children and Youth. As part of your review, select one policy report to analyze in detail.

Recent here is interpreted as anything published following the global ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989), but you may choose to focus on a more specific time period.

Remember you are looking at childhood and work in a global context, not just in the UK.

Suggested guidelines for the word count for each section are:

Introduction – 200 words

Literature review – 1,300 words

Analysis of policy report – 300 words

Conclusion and recommendations – 200 words (please include up to 3 policy recommendations on your chosen topic, these should be brief and formatted in bullet points)

Your report should be supported by at least 15 academic references, in addition to any policy reports or other grey literature you use.

I would expect to see around 15 academics (journal, book or book chapter) references, and around 8 policy references in your report.
