The selected national issue is nursing shortage, which is caused by high turnover, insufficient educators, burnout, unequal distribution of staff and acuity. The competing needs that affect nursing shortage include inadequate clinical educators, patients’ resources. Inasmuch as nurses are ready for further education, nurse educators are inadequate. Resources also contribute to nursing shortage. In particular, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) (2017) shows that there are inadequate clinical sites, classroom space and qualified instructors for further education. Without these resources nurses cannot be up-to-date with current clinical practices and guidelines.
