Professional development plan (PDP) acts a way or means of assessing personal goals, objectives and developing a plan for professional growth. For a few years I had been thinking about completing Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). However, due to personal experiences in healthcare and meeting the mandatory requirement for BSN-prepared nurses, I decided to complete a bachelor’s program at the American Sentinel University through SIM Path program. Completing a bachelor’s program has allowed me to gain relevant and new insights to improve my leadership skills. The program has widened my critical thinking, understanding of interpersonal and clinical aspects. Moreover, the program has broadened my time management, critical thinking and communication skills. The skills acquired in the BSN program have enhanced my confidence and will guide me in my professional advancement. Developing a PDP also involves program learning outcomes (PLO), which are learning competencies and objectives for the American Sentinel University BSN program. A successful graduate should demonstrate an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the PLO. The purpose of PDP is to reflect on how RN-BSN powered by SIMPath impacted my practice and how I achieved the ten PLOs.
RN-BSN PLO: Assume leadership roles on multidisciplinary teams within health care organizations
