Signs of political activity and indication of active government

Sentinel city has not only active but also participative democratic politics. For example, during the tour, it was evident that Mayor Hill is the front-runner of politics in the city and can be seen outside the city hall in Acer Tech Center. The mayor appears to be standing next to residents protecting about high taxes (Healthcare Learning Innovations, 2021).

The residents believe that coming together to protest they will convince the elected leaders to listen to them. Other signs of political activity in the city include posters and billboards across the city encouraging residents of Sentinel city to recycle waste. In addition, there were billboards discouraging citizens from texting while driving. Conversely, there are several building that indicate active government such as community center, city hall, department of public health, depart of transport, school district, affordable housing project and depart of social services (Healthcare Learning Innovations, 2021).

Speaking to the Mayor Hill I established that government policies are geared towards inclusivity and address diversity issues. Furthermore, mayor indicated that he was working to increase revenue for the city by collaborating local business owners and other leaders. Nonetheless, these seamed ironic because he was standing next to an organized protest requiring the wealthy to pay high taxes.

Forms of Government In My Community
My local community in Vienna, Fairfax is mainly a democratic representative government. One of the politically active organizations in the Vienna is NOVA Grassroots. This is a progressive political organization that support and provide information to other organizations across Virginia (NOVA Grassroots, 2021). For example, in 2019 NOVA Grassroots was involved in providing House District and Senate District candidates across Virginia with online profiles dates and election information.

There is also Fairfax NAACP that promotes educational, political, economic and social equality of all individuals while eliminating race-based discrimination of Americans (NOVA Grassroots, 2021). For example, to eliminate discrimination, Fairfax NAACP facilitates enactment and enforcement of local, state and federal laws that protect civil rights. The organization also educates Americans about their constitutional rights and how to protect them.

Another political party in my community is the Fairfax Indivisible that support Biden and Harris administration to fix American democracy (NOVA Grassroots, 2021). The organization is also involved in helping Virginians elect progressive candidates at local, state and federal levels.

Political Conditions in Sentinel City

Politics is a determinant of population health (McCartney et al., 2019). In democratic government , high public spending and low income inequalities is associated with better population health. However, in Sentinel city the mayor is talking about inclusivity and diversity but the city unevenly split between low and high income neighborhoods. This is further worsening health disparities.

Another aspect is that limited insurance coverage that prevent the residents from accessing health services resulting in negative health outcomes. Government role in regulating insurance princes can contribute to affordability, equity and availability (Motaze et al., 2021).

Conclusion

Even though Sentinel city has an active government, the local leaders should listen and work with the general public to address community needs instead of working with local leaders. Again, homelessness and providing affordable houses are good initiatives but the mayor should failing to resolve them will further exacerbate community health.
