American Suburbanization: Political Science
American Suburbanization: Political Science
Students are required to write a research paper, 6-7 pages in length (surprise, we amended the page length). Research Papers should be typed, double-spaced, using 12-point font, Times New Roman, one-inch margins and must include page numbers.
Page length does not include a title page, maps, graphs, tables, charts, endnotes or your bibliography. Place all maps, graphs, tables, and charts in an Appendix. In the text, where the document you explain (map, graph, table, or chart) should be located, please type [Table 1 here]. Each paper must have an Appendix with at least 2 maps, graphs, tables, OR charts.
American Suburbanization: Political Science
Your paper should have a Title Page and MUST have the following section headers: Introduction, Discussion, Conclusion, and Bibliography. You may add sub-sections to these section headers, if necessary. Endnotes, of standard length, are acceptable but NOT required. Use appropriate parenthetical citations. Do not write out the entire citation in text or use footnotes, which waste space.
Students can use readings*( THE SUBURBAN READER by Becky M. Nicolaides and Andrew Wiese) from the course, but must include least (5) outside academic sources. Students can build on and expand their Reading Critiques.
Students can use any of the topics listed on page 4 of this handout. Your TA, by Week 8, must approve other topics.
For specific formatting style of citations and references, consult the latest edition of The Chicago Manual of Style or consult the American Political Science Association Style Manual. A citation “Cheat Sheet” is located on the CWP under assignments.
