This requires you to conduct an analysis on a workplace or business issue facing an industry, or a specific organisation. You are to self-select a case study here, but importantly should think about a contemporary shift in the working environment, some of which have been explored in the modules. For example, you could select any from the following list (or something
uncovered in your own research):
– The increasing casualisation of workforce (both in regards to attitudes and contracting work)
– Increased diversity in workplace (from culture to composition)
– Digitisation (of the economy, or the workplace)
– Shifting working expectation in regards to remote working, flexible HR conditions
– Effects of globalisation, or global market integration (offshoring, outsourcing etc)
Once you have selected the issue, you are then required to select a specific industry or even organisation which this applies to. This will form the basis of your case study where you should consider answering the following broad
questions:

1. Description of the workplace or business issue: what is the historical significance of this on workplace behavior, operations or design? What is currently happening in regards to your issue and what is the focus of the contemporary literature?
2. Description of the scope of the organisation/company/sector. This includes a brief description of their activities, which sector and industry they operate in and key products, service and customers. Treat this as a
contextualising section.
Part B
This second section now requires you to respond to a discussion question. You are to write a response to the following statement:
Additional Information “Explain the function and importance of strategy within your selected industry or organisation.”
In this section we would like you to reflect on the notion of strategy from a variety of perspectives explored in the modules. You could look at:

– The 5P’s model from module 1 (only the most relevant!)
– Strategy in regards to competitive/generic or top-level/internationalisation/diversification approaches (where relevant and
adding to your discussion)
Lastly, as a conclusion, please discuss if and how managers are best equipped to deal with these changes and the issue within your sector, given what you have explored in regards to the importance of strategy. Of course, you are encouraged to extend this discussion also into relevant theories, questions and concepts you find appropriate. Your case study may be structured however you think best to present your analysis
