Task Description
This assignment is a critical analysis paper. Students need to select an aspect of school reform taking place in the UAE. Students will then produce a 1500-2000 word critique on the selected aspect of school reform. Students are expected to discuss this aspect of school reform and its impact on school leaders/managers in terms of the changes they should introduce to their schools. The paper revolves around the ongoing reforms, addressed or already implemented ones. In addition, students need to analyse the challenges that school stakeholders (for example school leaders, parents, teachers, students) may face in implementing/ implemented reform. Recommendations need to be included in the paper. This assignment is an individual writing piece. Critical reflections need to be expressed, written, and supported by examples. The examples can be taken from the UAE, regional and global contexts. The essay needs to be linked to class discussions and course materials covered. This assignment links to topics from Outcomes 1 and 2.

Criteria and Marking
Assignment two will be marked according to the following criteria:

Submission Details
The assignment should be submitted to the relevant lecturer and the student’s name and identification details must be present on the covering sheet. Due date: Week 7.
LATE SUBMISSION
An assessment item submitted after the due date, without an approved extension from the Lecturer or Program Head, will be penalised. The standard penalty is the reduction of the mark allocated to the assessment item by 10% of the maximum mark applicable for the assessment item, for each day or part day that the item is late. Weekends count as one day in determining the penalty. Assessment items submitted more than five days after the due date are awarded zero marks.
