Effects of Pornography On Children!
Effects of Pornography On Children!
This is a take-home exam and you can use notes, textbooks, etc…. but not assistance from another person. The exam must be answered exclusively by you. There is only one question with several requirements.
Please, make sure you meet all of the following requirements:
1. There are numerous behaviors that may lead to health problems or health risks to children, youth, and adults. I have chosen two that are very prevalent but most people are unaware of these or do not know what to do to change the situation or just do not think they are a problem. For each of those two problems there is an article. You are welcome to read both articles in order to be informed of such pressing health issues, but you are asked to choose only one article according to your last name so you can answer the exam question.
1b. If your last name starts with M through W, read carefully the following article on the impact of pornography on children, by the American College of Pediatricians:

2. Hypothetical case: You are working for the Health Department of your State as a Health Promotion Project Coordinator, and your supervisor has asked you to provide theory-based solutions to a current health problem (either impact of pornography on children, or impact of media use, depending on your last name). You must choose one health behavior model (of two given) and write an essay based on that model that will help your community, families, and individuals to take specific steps to solve or reduce the impact of the health issue. Choose one of the following two models to support your plan and recommendations: the Health Belief Model or the Ecological Model of Health and Wellness also known as Socio Ecological Model.
3. Your essay should have a length of 600 to 700 words (no more, no less). Make sure you count them.
4. Your essay should contain a short introduction explaining what research says about the health problem (based on the article). This introduction should be shorter than 1/4 of your entire essay. After the introduction you should write a few paragraphs explaining possible solutions (i.e., steps, actions, tips,…) to the problem. These solutions should be based on “all” the tenants or constructs of the model you have chosen and not only on the recommendations given in the article. Your essay should end with a brief conclusion (no more than four sentences) in which you can share your personal view of the problem. Only in this last paragraph or conclusion you are allowed to include your personal opinion of the problem.
5. Please, avoid a lengthy introduction filled with personal opinion that is not related to the topic or directed to introduce the health model chosen. Again, avoid also personal opinions through all the essay, except your final conclusion. Focus on the facts of the article and how the model can be applied in order to help communities, families and individuals to take action in reducing the impact of the health issue. As you review both models you will know which model has levels of influence (over policies, community, family, individuals), or it is just designed to assist individuals.
6. Again, the answer I expect is not about describing the model, but showing how to apply the model to the health problem you have been given, so your audience will learn of some steps to decrease or eliminate the problem.
7. When learning about the model, please, make sure you review sources beyond the textbook. For instance, you can review: Theory at a Glance 2nd Edition (search it online).
8. At the end of your essay include all the specific references you have used to support the answer of the exam. You may use as many as you wish. The list of references used do not count as part of the word limit (600-700)
